Shark Skypes

This morning we were able to Skype with Jillian Morris (twitter @sharkyjillian) about sharks.  Jillian is a Marine Biologist who is part of the www.sharks4kids.com website.  She Skyped in to talk to our students about sharks and help the students look at truth vs fiction about sharks.  Our students were riveted for 45 minutes as they learned about sharks and specifically how she shoots video underwater. She was able to share how important sharks are in the ecosystem and how their numbers are dwindling.  All students all were given the handout on how to make their own biting Tiger Shark out of paper.  If you want to make one, click here to print the template.

Over the past week our 4th grade students have been learning and reading about sharks using some of the awesome resources from the sharks4kids website and had some great questions for her.

Here is a short video made by Chase telling about one fact he learned.  We used the tellagami app to do this.

Ryan and his shark fact.
Claire and her shark fact.
